PUBLIC NOTICE
Uganda Microfinance Regulatory Authority (UMRA) was established by section 6 of the Tier 4 Microfinance Institutions and Money Lenders Act, 2016 to license, regulate and supervise Tier 4 Microfinance Institutions and Money Lenders in Uganda.
UMRA informs the general public that it has closed issuance of licenses for the calendar year 2020. The Authority has now started receiving applications for licenses for the year 2021.
The purpose of this Public Notice is therefore to inform licensed Money Lending companies and Non Deposit Taking Microfinance institutions for the year 2020 to make necessary preparations to renew their licenses. At the same time, the Authority informs the general public and relevant stakeholders that it has started the process of licensing SACCOs.
The Authority therefore calls upon registered SACCOs to make the necessary preparations towards the license application.
